RED METAL SCULPTURE AT EYRE SQUARE IN GALWAY [ARTIST – EAMONN O’DOHERTY]
The Quincentennial “Sails” Corten Steel Sculpture By Éamonn O’Doherty
I located a photograph of this sculpture that was captured using a normal lens rather than an ultra-wide lens so there is less distortion.
Éamonn O’Doherty (1939 – 4 August 2011), born in Derry, Northern Ireland, was an Irish sculptor, painter, printmaker, photographer and lecturer. He was best known for his sculptures in public places. He died, aged 72, in Dublin, Ireland.
TRIBUTE TO DAVID ATTENBOROUGH WHO IS NOW 93 – LONGWOOD AVENUE IN THE PORTOBELLO AREA OF DUBLIN
An entity or group known as Subset have recently created a Street Art tribute to David Attenborough on his 93rd birthday.
A few years ago I purchased an RX0 camera and it is tiny and even though it cost about Euro 990 I was happy with it but earlier this year it was replaced by a Mark II version which is much better and currently retails at Euro 799.
I usually carry the RX0 in my pocket so I can react if I something of interest but recently I have noticed that the images are faded and not well defined towards the top of the frame.
STREET ART TRIBUTE TO GEORGE BERNARD SHAW – SYNGE STREET OFF THE SOUTH CIRCULAR ROAD
On Synge Street this work by FINK pays tribute to George Bernard Shaw, who was born just across the street at No.33. The museum that occupied the birthplace of the Nobel Prize winner has been closed to the public since 2012.
Synge Street is located in what once was the Jewish quarter of Dublin a part of the city steeped in history. It is claimed by some historians that the street was named after the Church of Ireland Bishop Edward Synge of Elphin who owned property in the area at the time of his death in 1762. The Bishop was a great-great-great granduncle of John Millington Synge, the famous Playboy of the Western World who wrote The Playboy of the Western World.
The famous Synge Street School, founded in 1864 by the Christian Brothers, has been based in the area ever since it was established.
