FILM CREW AT KINGS INNS [HENRIETTA STREET DUBLIN 1]

I live behind this building [or in front of – depending on your point of view] and many times when I leave my apartment I encounter a film set or a tv crew. As you may have guessed, the area is a popular period-location for film and TV companies, with productions filmed including Albert Nobbs, Inspector George Gently and Foyle’s War.

There is a nice little park in front of the building in the photograph and while it is little known at present things will change in the near future because across the road from the entrance to the park a very large complex is under construction and close to completion. The complex will consist of a public plazza, the Broadstone Luas Tram Stop and the new Grangegorman College Campus which will include a second tram stop. Starting in 2018 there will be at least 20,000 students visiting the area on a daily basis.

The Honorable Society of King’s Inns (HSKI) is the institution which controls the entry of barristers-at-law into the justice system of Ireland. The full title retains the historical spelling variant “honorable” in preference to the contemporary Hiberno-English spelling of “honourable”.
