In the thirties and forties ocean-sailing as recreation was hardly possible. As the professional Tall Ship’s sailing disappeared, the founders of the Eendracht wanted to preserve the possibility of training Dutch youngsters aboard Tall Ships. Based on the sailing experiences with the first Eendracht various specialists formulated improvements and new ideas to build a fantastic "national sailing ship" with excellent sailing abilities.
The three masted schooner Eendracht (IMO: 8814275, Port of Registry: Rotterdam) is used to get anyone, especially young people, acquainted with the adventure of sailing at sea. The goal of the foundation is: "To use the Eendracht to the fullest extend to let youngsters actively experience all the aspects of sailing at sea." The Eendracht sails daytrips and multiple day voyages from ports all over the world!
The Eendracht sails throughout the year and offers a large variety of voyages. In spring and autumn the ship makes several daytrips from various mostly Dutch ports. During the rest of the year she makes short voyages of several days at the North Sea or many longer voyages to different countries: Baltic Sea, Irish Sea, the English Channel. Every year the Eendracht takes part in the Tall Ships’ Races. In winter the ship leaves for warmer regions, such as: Canary Islands, Mediterranean, Azores and the Caribbean! During daytrips the Eendracht can carry up to 80 passengers. During voyages of two or more days the Eendracht can carry up to 40 passengers. The vessel has a crew of 13 and has 15 two-person cabins, 6 four-person cabins and one single person cabin.
The Eendracht is almost 60 meters long, 12 meters wide, has a maximum sail area of 1,206 m2 and has a mast height of 41.7 meters.
The next journey after her visit to Dublin for the Maritime Festival, will start at the end of June with destinations in Gdynia, St. Petersburg, Turku, Klaipeda and Rostock. More info can be found at www.eendracht.nl/
From 1 September 1989, thousands of Dutch youngsters and adults have had a unique experience aboard this ship. In 20 years’ time the ship sailed a rough 347,684 sea miles!
